How does mud fever, Mallenders and Sallenders develop?
Mud fever is an inflammatory skin disease found on the pastern, or the joint of the
fetlock. Mallenders and Sallenders are the same disease but found on the back of
the knee and on the hock, respectively. The skin can either have weeping sores or
is dry and crusty. Mud fever, Mallenders and Sallenders infections can vary in size,
from a very small area of the skin to the entire length of the cannon bone.
