DESCRIPTION

MYCOPOWER BIO SHIITAKE

This Mycopower mushroom is a vegetarian and gluten-free food supplement and carries the European ECO BIO quality mark. Shiitake is available in loose powder, powder capsules and as extract capsules.

Origin, growth and use of the Shiitake mushroom
Shiitake mushrooms thrive on deciduous trees, especially the Pasania tree, which also gives them their name. 'Shii' means 'Pasania'. The beautiful shiitake mushroom with its light to dark brown, slightly flaky cap is found in the wild in the forests of China and Japan. Its cap is on average 5-12 cm and quite round. The scientific name Leninula comes from the Latin "lentus", which means flexible or tough, and refers to the flexible stem of the mushroom.

Worldwide, Shiitake is grown in similar quantities to mushrooms because it is an excellent edible mushroom. The shiitake mushroom is the second most consumed edible mushroom in the world after the mushroom. Perhaps the Shiitake owes this mainly to its particularly strong, spicy aroma, which has even been given its own name: umami (can be perceived by the taste buds as a fifth taste in addition to the basic flavors). Although the shiitake mushroom is native to Asia, it is now commercially grown all over the world. In the Asian region, it has long been known as a beneficial mushroom, and it first appears from Japanese sources around 200 AD, where it was so precious that it was presented to the emperor as a gift at the time. Shiitake has also been cultivated in China since 1000 AD.

Shiitake extracts can even be used in skincare. Shiitake can be made into a face mask by making a spreadable mass.

Ingredients
The ingredients of the shiitake mushroom are gaining more and more scientific interest. It is high in protein, fiber, vitamins, and minerals. In particular, scientific studies focus on the properties of the polysaccharide lentinan, which is specific to the Shiitake mushroom. Lentinan is mainly the polysaccharide in Shiitake that is being scientifically researched.
The Shiitake has a remarkable content of minerals such as potassium, zinc, iron, phosphorus and vitamins B1 and B2, as well as the provitamin D ergosterol and 7 of the 8 amino acids essential for humans. Due to the high nutrient density of minerals, trace elements and vitamins, the Shiitake distinguishes itself as a valuable medicinal mushroom.
