The Auricularia owes its German name 'Judas Ear' to a Christian legend. According to this legend, Judas hanged himself from an elder tree, the kind of tree on which the Auricularia grows particularly often. This legend combined with its ear-shaped fruiting bodies gave rise to the name 'Judas Ear'. This Mycopower mushroom is a vegetarian and gluten-free food supplement and carries the European ECO BIO quality mark. Auricularia is available in loose powder, powder capsules and as extract capsules.

Origin, growth and use of the Auricularia mushroom
The Chinese morel, also known as Tree Ear or Judas Ear, is a mushroom that has been successfully used for over 2000 years. In Europe and the Orient, too, its use has been mentioned in ancient herbal books for hundreds of years. The Auricularia auricula-judae mushroom grows mainly on deciduous trees. And as mentioned above, this mushroom thrives mainly on elderwood. It is a weak parasite. The Auricularia feeds mainly on the dead wood of still living trees. Judas ear is a native mushroom in almost all of Europe and grows wild almost all year round thanks to its frost resistance. The mushroom grows all over the world.

In Mycotherapy, the ingredients of the mushroom and their effect are the most important. Auricularia is a well-known mushroom with a positive effect on blood circulation and cholesterol levels. Polysaccharides, including beta-D-glucan acid heteropolysaccharide, are responsible for their numerous health-promoting effects. The minerals iron, calcium, potassium and silicon are also worth mentioning. Auricularia also contains vitamin B1 (thiamine).

Ingredients
Like all vital mushrooms, the Auricularia is rich in minerals, trace elements and vitamins. It also has a particularly high content of iron, potassium, magnesium and contains beta-D-glucans as well as a unique, specific Auricularia biopolymer (EBP) and several specific lectins. In recent years, these have increasingly become the focus of science and have been the subject of various studies. This is one of the reasons why Judas Ear was voted "Mushroom of the Year 2017" by the German Society for Mycology.
