In China, the Hericium mushroom is known as a delicacy because of its delicious aroma. Hericium is also known there as the "Monkey's Head mushroom". Other common names include "Pom-Pom", "Yamabu-Shitake" and "Lion's Mane". This Mycopower mushroom is a vegetarian and gluten-free food supplement and carries the European ECO BIO quality mark. Hericium is available in loose powder, powder capsules and as extract capsules.
Note: The mushroom species Hericium erinaceus should not be confused with its close relative, the Hericium coralloides or "branched spinybeard"
Origin, growth and use of the Hericium mushroom
Hericium Erinaceus is spreading all over the world and also grows in Europe. The fungus settles on wounds of deciduous trees. However, Hericium rarely grows in the wild these days, but it is easy to grow. The first Hericium mushroom was grown in Shanghai in 1950. There, the Hericium is not only a sought-after edible mushroom, but also has a permanent place in traditional Chinese medicine. In the meantime, other countries have also experienced the positive effects of Hericium and are benefiting from them. Hericium is now grown all over the world and used as a dietary supplement.
The Hericium, or lion's mane mushroom, is an excellent aromatic edible mushroom with solid, white flesh. The scent of Hericium is a combination of seafood with a lemony note. Hericium, with the exception of methionine and tryptophan, contains all the essential amino acids. In traditional medicine, Hericium or Lion's Mane plays a major role.
Ingredients
The Hericium protein contains all eight amino acids that are essential for humans. In addition, it has valuable polysaccharides and polypeptides and a high potassium content. Other components of the Lion's Mane are vitamins B1, B2, B3 and B5, vitamin D, calcium, iron, copper and selenium. The protein content of Hericium erinaceus is 31%. Because of this high nutrient density, Hericium is often used as an edible mushroom. Incidentally, the delicate, intense aroma of the Lion's Mane is created by 32 different substances – much more than in many other well-known edible mushrooms such as mushrooms or oyster mushrooms.
Hericium powder capsules
Conventional mushroom powder capsules. Each capsule contains 500mg of pure and natural Hericium powder. The mushroom body is gently ground into a fine powder. The grain size of Mycopower mushroom powder is less than 0.125 mm after processing and therefore has an exceptionally high quality and bioavailability. The finer the powder, the more intensive the bioavailability of the active ingredients.
